affecting longer-term business planning."
Dave Harris-Jones, Environmental Auditor at CBEN awarded The Flower Bank a Bronze Award in 2010 for their commitment to a host of ‘green' initiatives including rainwater storage, recycling, composting and homegrown foliage.
He is "delighted" the company had moved straight to a Gold Award just eighteen months later.
"The Flower Bank's commitment to renewable energy means that its warehouse and office facilities are now carbon neutral," he confirmed.
"In fact, the business is now a net exporter of electrical power which offsets thousands of miles of carbon emissions from its fleet of delivery vehicles every year."
The Flower Bank is an excellent example of a Cumbrian company pro-actively improving its environmental credentials whilst seeking to stay competitive, he said.
"As far as I'm aware we are the only flower wholesaler in the UK to generate all our own energy from renewable sources," said Helen.
"I am now examining the possibility of investing in an electricity-powered vehicle to use for our Cumbrian deliveries."
