DARVEL florist Zoe Fitzsimmons is in the mood for celebrating after winning a bottle of vintage champagne.

The 37-year-old - who runs Flowers by Zoe on West Main Street - was the latest winner in her wholesale flower supplier’s monthly draw.

“I couldn’t believe it - what a lovely surprise,” said the mother of two from Whitehill Crescent, Annbank, Ayr.

Zoe, who recently bought the shop from her former boss after working there for five years, is already planning improvements to the thriving business.

“I want to modernise the back office and change the façade and flooring,” she said.

“I’ve a lot of very loyal customers and I’m gradually introducing new flowers and different planters and containers.

“You have to keep moving ahead and offering customers new ideas.”

Helen Wilson, who runs Cumbrian wholesaler The Flower Bank, was delighted to hand over a bottle of champagne to Zoe.

“We hold a champagne draw every month for all customers and Zoe was a popular winner when we pulled her name out of the bag,” she said.
